Alfred Hitchcock's first thriller, The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog, was screened at the BFI Southbank NFT 1 during the Fashion in Film Festival. Alice introduced the 1927 silent film, the story of a mass murderer who always struck on Tuesdays and always killed blondes.

Alice chaired the Contemporary Art Day, an event organised in collaboration by Arts Council England with the National Trust, to encourage historic houses to exhibit contemporary arts and crafts. It was held at Osterley Park, an 18th century house designed by Robert Adam.

The Turner Prize

Tate Britain staged a debate on the Turner Prize and its impact on the visual arts. Alice, who was a member of the Turner Prize jury in 1999, participated in the debate, which coincided with a Tate Britain exhibition exploring the history of the prize, The Turner Prize: A Retrospective.
